Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU) offers 4-year degree programs in science and technology with a practical approach that is career based and balanced.

The School of Computing and Software Engineering offers studies of computing and its applications, which includes science, engineering and technology.  They installed a Game Design and Development lab in 2008 to prepare for a proposed Gaming Design degree program, which was approved by the Board of Regents, and began in Fall 2009.

The new Game Design and Development degree program prepares its graduates to compete in the growing game development industry. As is the tradition at SPSU, these students gain valuable experience working on authentic projects such as the educational game development collaborations. As the program continues to grow, senior level programming students work with the beginning level students, “contracting out” portions of the programming. These experiences provide the SPSU students with invaluable project planning, programming, and management opportunities.

Tech Matters began collaborating with the SPSU in 2008 and looks forward to continuing to extend STEM learning through educational game development with K-12 schools throughout the state.
